FAQ

Questions, answered

Is this the official Messenger app?

No. Menubar Messenger Client is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. You sign in with your own Facebook account on Facebook's login page.

Does the app see my messages?

Messages travel only between your Mac and Facebook's servers. The developer runs no server, and the app has no analytics or tracking. Your session and message cache stay on your Mac.

Do end-to-end encrypted chats work?

Yes. The app enrols as a Messenger device and can send and receive messages in end-to-end encrypted conversations. History from before the device was enrolled is not available yet.

Is it free?

Yes. The app is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
